Great American Supplemental Benefits Group (GASBG) is located in Austin, Texas. Our insurance companies provide customers with a wide variety of products through licensed independent agents and registered representatives. Our family of companies includes:

Central Reserve Life Insurance Company (CRL)
Founded in 1964, Central Reserve Life became a part of the GASBG family in 2006. CRL is licensed to sell products in AL, AZ, AR, CO, DE, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WI and WY.

Continental General Insurance Company (CGI)
Marketing insurance products since 1961, CGI became a part of the GASBG family in 2006. CGI is licensed to sell products in 48 states and the District of Columbia. CGI does not market in New Hampshire and New York.

Great American Life Insurance Company® (GALIC)
GALIC dates back to 1872 when the German American Insurance Company was founded. In 1918, the Company changed its name to Great American Insurance Company and in 1959 became Great American Life Insurance Company®. GALIC has an A.M. Best rating of "A (Excellent); Outlook Stable."1 Great American Life is licensed to sell products in all states (except New York), the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.

Loyal American Life Insurance Company® (LALIC)
LALIC was founded in 1955 in Mobile, AL and has an A.M. Best rating of "A (Excellent); Outlook Stable."1 Loyal American Life is licensed to underwrite insurance products for sale in all states (except New York), the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Provident American Life & Health Insurance Company (PALHIC)
PALHIC became a part of the GASBG family in 2006. PALHIC is licensed to sell products in AK, AZ, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, MO, MS, MT, NE, NV, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TX, UT, VT, WI, WV and WY.

United Teacher Associates Insurance Company (UTA)
Founded in 1958, UTA is rated "A- (Excellent); Outlook: Stable" by A.M. Best.2 UTA is licensed in 46 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. UTA does not market in New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

American Financial Group has entered into a definitive agreement with Cigna for the purchase of its Supplemental Benefits Division - Medicare Supplement, Hospital Indemnity, Specified Disease and Health business. Through this agreement, Cigna will purchase all Great American Supplemental Benefits Group insurance companies with the exception of Great American Life, Continental General and United Teacher Associates insurance companies.

Cigna is a Fortune 100 company with significant experience in the health market as one of the largest health service companies in the US market. Cigna also operates internationally in 30 countries, and has approximately 70 million customer relationships worldwide. Headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut, Cigna serves its customers with nearly 35,000 dedicated employees.

We are very excited about future opportunities with Cigna. The new Cigna Supplemental Benefits Group will remain headquartered in Austin, TX and will continue its tradition of experience, customer service, and quality.
